Peace and harmony are married to active, sports-minded living in this timelessness outdoor space. It’s one of those form versus function arguments where “both” is the surprising yet logical answer. The solution started with the initial conversation Chris Volk had with husband and wife. On one hand, they wanted a “sports pool” for volley ball and swimming, and on the other, a year-around hot tub for relaxation, with a classic, tranquil design that connects home and yard. As they looked over the outdoor space, Chris concluded, “we can do this, but you’re going to have to trust me on the details.”

As in every successful project, countless details—design, engineering, building, crafting, even maintainability—are hidden from view, or designed to escape conscious notice. In this case, however, one of the more dramatic features—an infinity-edge pool—takes a surprising sonic departure. The water, rather than retreating from the far end, comes toward you. The reversal offers a bonus feature: the restful sound of falling water. A timeless charm, always there for those precious moments, when you close your eyes, and just listen.
